… indeed.

Computing is getting fun again, totally wicked machines are released all the time.

First the EEE-PC Netbooks, now the new Mac-Books and Mac-Book Pros, then someone finally has the guts to do away with lengthy boot processes: Booting Linux in five seconds.

All those things are so exciting, because it seems that people are getting what it means to build beautiful functional products.

I also really like that Apple goes with an integrated nVidia graphics chip, because like it or not, as far as my experience goes, nVidia simple is the only vendor who is able to deliver an acceptable OpenGL product. Of course, I have not test driven the specific chip used in those notebooks, but so far, for what I want to do (Video Processing), I have been severely disappointed by graphics products from “other” vendors (*cough* ATI/AMD *cough*).

Oh, btw. a minimal, fast booting, eventually minit based Linux Distri, especially optimized for those new Mac-Books would be really nice.

Have fun,
Cheers

PS.: Oh, and I discovered Citadel, I guess I know now what will be my next Mail-Server-Software.

PPS.: Oh, and for the missing Firewire connector on the MacBooks, get over it, consumer camcorders have harddisks and USB nowadays, and if you have a DV/HDV camcorder, you probably already have a computer that does Firewire. Having been a vivid Firewire advocate for as long as I can remember, it is true that its sad, but jeez, its not the end of the world, and I can understand their decision totally.
