If you have ever noticed that on the Apple MacOSX Dock, there is no distinction between application starters and tray icons. There is only one icon that serves both purposes, and in fact, that is how things should be.
And in other news, OpenBSD implemented a poor mans version of Pulse Audio. Currently I have no opinion about whether this is a good or a bad idea. In the case of such simple implementations, I am sometimes tempted to cry over engineering, but who am I to judge?
